Thursday 5th May

Dear Boys and Girls,

Here are some reminders for tomorrow's Math exam:

1) Remember to bring your calculator and mathematical set.

2) Whole Numbers:
 - When rounding off, take note of the number of decimal places required.
- Draw a Place Value chart when writing in numerals.
 - When rounding off, look at the digit on the right of place value you need to round off to. Check if it is more than or equals to 5 and round off accordingly.
- Fraction with denominator '8' can be changed to '1000'.
- Order of Operations: Work from left to right and underline the steps you need to work out first.

3) Fractions:
- ALWAYS LEAVE ANSWERS IN THE SIMPLEST FORM.
- Look out for a unit or the word "of" after the fraction (e.g. 1/2 kg vs 1/2 of). Sometimes they can appear in the same sum. (e.g. Mrs Lee has 1/2 kg of flour. She uses 1/2 of the flour to bake a cake. How much flour does she have left?)
- When dividing by a whole number, remember to flip the numerator and denominator of the divisor. (e.g. 1/2 divide by 6 = 1/2 x 1/6 = 1/12)

4) Area of Triangles:
- Remember formula of area of Triangle = 1/2 x Base x Height
- Remember units (cm2 / m2)
- Base MUST meet Height at a right angle.
- Do not include dotted lines for Base.

5) Ratio:
- ALWAYS LEAVE ANSWERS IN THE SIMPLEST FORM.
- Make sure the ratio is in the correct order.
- Draw a table to represent the ratio in your working.

6) Term 1 & Term 2 Problem Sums:
- Redo 1 or 2 sums from each week's heuristics.
- Go through the videos in AsknLearn Math Blog if unsure.

Last but not least, have confidence in your work. Show all steps clearly and write word statements to back up your answers in the answer line. You will be fine!

ALL THE BEST!
